Types of Courses
Highline Online
Highline Online courses are offered over the Internet and do not meet on campus.
- Class is online, so you don't have to be in class at a certain time. You can fit your coursework into your schedule.
- Online courses have the same credit, prerequisites, and course outlines as face-to-face courses.
Because of the online environment, courses may be harder to do, but scheduling is more flexible.
- Most courses have multiple deadlines throughout the quarter and are not self-paced.
- Certain classes may require proctored exams, supplemental software, or scheduled visits to employers or other locations in your area.
You will need an email account and web access for these classes. A Highline Computer Fee will be charged for the class. Contact the instructor for the course syllabus for details.
Hybrid
Hybrid courses meet online and in class on campus, but there are fewer face-to-face meetings than regular online classes. For instance, a class that normally meets five days a week will meet 2 or 3 days per week. The balance of the work is completed online.
